ABA THERAPY

What Is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach used to understand human behavior or why people do what they do. ABA focuses not only on why behavior occurs, but also how behaviors are affected by the environment and how learning takes place. ABA therapy is the only clinically proven intervention for children and adults with autism and other related disabilities, as it applies the understanding of how behavior works in day-to-day situations. Reinforcement is one of the driving forces behind human behavior. It fuels motivation and sparks behavioral change. All human behavior is considered a form of communication. And so, if we strive to understand what motivates people to do what they do, then we can help them learn more socially appropriate behaviors to communicate. It takes a special person to hear what a child cannot say. We help your child better communicate and engage with the world.

How Can We Help?

Fitting Pieces Therapy offers a personalized and integrative ABA therapeutic approach, helping each child thrive in their natural environment. Using the principles of ABA Therapy, we implement different strategies and methods to increase motivation and develop behavior with positive changes. Using ABA we can:

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY

Speech and Language Therapy, or Speech Therapy, specializes in helping children and adults with Autism and other Developmental Disorders improve communication disorders. This includes difficulties with comprehension of language, verbal communication, articulation or pronunciation skills, and social communication. Speech Therapy can also target difficulties with oral motor skills or feeding.

Through Speech Therapy, we evaluate, identify, and diagnose the specific areas of difficulty, to better assist them in overcoming challenges. We can also assist in the evaluation and use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), such as speech generating devices and other low-tech systems, to provide non-verbal individuals with a different means of communication. With individualized therapeutic plans and intensive intervention, we can help them better understand others, express themselves appropriately, and make better sense of the world around them.
